Current Languages

View the translations dashboard

If you're interested in translating for a language already enabled then visit the Translating guide. We currently have the following languages enabled:

  • French
  • Spanish
  • Chinese (simplified)

Feel free to reach out on Discord in the #docs channel with any questions you have along the way! 👋

Proposing New Languages

If there's a language we're not actively translating then feel free to propose it here. Translations and reviews require a lot of work from multiple people so we need to ensure we have enough community support and interest before we're able to enable new languages.

We currently have the following languages proposed:

If you're interested in helping with reviews and translations for one of these languages then feel free to add a comment and we'll add your name to the list. This helps us gauge when we have enough support to enable a new language.

If there's an additional language not listed here then let us know if you're willing to support translations and reviews then let us know and we'll add the new language.

Happy translating!

Awesome! I've added your name to the list above and will let everyone here know when that happens. Be sure to also add yourself to the "Japanese" role on Discord if you'd like to receive any notifications there:

Hi, I started a MR #1798 and saw this here afterwards. Please review german.

The linked pr raises an interesting question, @lorenzolewis do we prefer formal or informal pronouns? The PR used the formal "Sie" and for comparison, the old react docs used informal "du" https://de.legacy.reactjs.org/ (the new ones aren't translated).

My personal aversion to docs in german makes informal sound slightly more compelling to me but super unsure 😓

P.S. you can add me to the list as a reviewer for german i guess.

Hi @FabianLars, that is a good point to be streamlined.
I had a look after you raised the formal "Sie" topic.
What I can see at some v1 pages is the formal "vous", "nous", "loro" are in place. Let me know if you defined it. Example pages:
France: https://tauri.app/fr/v1/references/architecture/process-model/
Italien: https://tauri.app/it/v1/references/architecture/process-model/

Sorry, just seeing this. I don't have any input on formal vs. informal, I'd leave that up to the respective native speakers. I would advocate for using gender-neutral pronouns as much as possible and applicable so we can be as inclusive as possible, though 💟

It's unclear how a translation goes from "proposed" to "enabled" at the moment. Is this done in the Tauri Working Group Office Hours event?

It's a bit random at the moment. Generally, when we see 2-3 people interested in a language we would enable it. Currently though the docs see too many/frequent changes so there'd be a high chance that we'd end up wasting your time. At least that's how i see it.

I expect that we can enable more languages in a few weeks. Thank you for your interest in contributing!

Hey @lorenzolewis (nice name BTW 😏) I'd like to be considered as an italian translator as well, I've just forked the repo and I'll start contributing soon.

Is there any tracking issue or pr already open for te italian translation that I've missed? I don't see any.
Found the website.
